Temperatures are expected to be higher than usual this summer in the UK. With this being good news for sun lovers, it, unfortunately, means extra work for drivers.
Keeping your car cool in hot weather is essential to ensure you can drive comfortably and prevent potential damage to your vehicle from overheating.
Leave your windows slightly open to allow hot air to escape and new air to enter your car. We'd recommend not going too far away from your car while your windows are left open though, just to avoid any mishaps from taking place.
Make sure you're getting your MOT at the right times and ensure you are doing regular self-checks for such things as; coolant levels, possible leaks and other issues that may need resolving to ensure your car is road-safe and capable of handling the heat this summer.
Most of the surfaces you or your passengers have to touch to get into your car might be hot and unpleasant to touch at first, which is probably a pretty painful feeling most of us have had at some point or another. To avoid this put either a sunshade or reflective windshield visor on to block direct sunlight from coming through the windows.
The chances are you've got air conditioning in your car, and while that's great for cooling the car down at first, it's not sustainable to run constantly while you're driving as it can cause a number of problems to your car, including added fuel consumption and problems to the engine.
