Nearby Attractions

Being the second largest city in the UK, Birmingham doesn’t disappoint when it comes to things to do and see. You can enjoy the beauty of the Birmingham Botanical Gardens or the hustle and bustle of the city shopping in the contemporary Bullring shopping centre.

Popular attractions also include Cadbury’s World, the National Sea Life Centre, and the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery and there are lots of trendy cafes and bars that offer an enjoyable dining experience throughout Birmingham.

The city also has a rich history of sporting rivalry, with 9 football clubs playing in the top two tiers of professional football – all within an hour’s drive away from the centre of Birmingham. Two of these teams have fantastic stadiums close to the city centre, in Aston Villa’s Villa Park and Birmingham City’s St. Andrews stadium.


Public Transport

Outside of London, Birmingham’s main train station, Birmingham New Street is the busiest station in the UK – acting as a central hub of public transport for the city and beyond. It is also the national hub for the Avanti West Coast network, with all of their long-distance services passing through or terminating at the station. Trains regularly depart to all parts of the UK from Birmingham New Street.

Birmingham does not have any bus service Park and Ride locations. But it does offer several rail service Park and Ride locations for travelling into the city.


Disabled Parking

The Blue Badge parking scheme aims to provide better access to parking spaces for drivers or passengers with severe mobility problems. Accessible spaces are widely available across Birmingham, with a number of options for disabled drivers.

Parking is free for Blue Badge holders in any off-street council car park and in all of the city’s on-street pay-and-display spaces with no maximum stay.

Blue Badge holders can also park on single or double yellow lines for a maximum of 3 hours where there is no signalled loading ban.


Electric Vehicles

Birmingham has 36 electric vehicle charging points available across the city. There are also plans in place to upgrade these and replace them with rapid and fast charging facilities in more locations.

All council-owned electric vehicle charging points in Birmingham can be used by members of any Electric Vehicle network. Just use your membership card to start the charge.
