Leeds has amazing attractions both in the city and in nearby towns. The Temple Newsam House, the Kirkstall Abbey, and the Harewood House are a few of the most popular tourist attractions, however, if you’re looking to escape the city you can hike or cycle through the Otley Chevin Forest for beautiful Wharfedale views from the 282-meter summit. Public transport in Leeds is very reliable with the most popular options being bus and train, you can easily access all areas of Yorkshire from Leeds bus station at the eastern edge of the city centre. South of the city centre, Leeds train station is the principal station having trains to London every half hour. It also connects to major cities on the Cross Country including Birmingham, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Derby, Nottingham, Reading, Bristol, Exeter, Plymouth and Penzance.
Blue Badge holders can park free of charge for an unlimited period of time in any of Leeds’ on-street pay-and-display spaces. Disabled drivers are also able to park on single or double yellow lines for up to 3 hours with a Blue Badge unless there are signs that state otherwise. The majority of off-street car parks in Leeds have a sizeable number of disabled parking spaces when compared to other cities and parking for Blue Badge holders, drivers must check each individual car park’s policy on this before parking.
A permit scheme has been introduced in Leeds to allow free parking for Ultra-low emission vehicles (ULEVs) in the city centre. Only vehicles on the Department for Transport list recognised as ULEV will qualify for the scheme.
